Finance teams have invested heavily in AI technology to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow. Our latest research has shown that 66.5% of finance organizations are increasing their investment in AI, with 24.2% now treating it as a top budget priority.
At Auditoria, we have been working with these teams to understand where AI agents can take on more of the day-to-day work, how to connect processes across AP and AR, and how to give finance leaders greater control over what their agents do. With real tangible results.
Recently, we announced an expansion of our autonomous Cash Cycle offering for Workday Financial Management customers, bringing together our AP and AR agents, expanded SmartResearch capabilities, and new Agent Policies that give finance teams more control and governance over how those agents operate.
We are also making it easier for Workday customers to try these capabilities, with a free two-month SmartResearch test drive available exclusively to new Workday Financial Management customers for a limited time, alongside special pricing on annual commitments.
Bringing more finance work together
We already use AI agents to handle work across AP and AR, and our latest expansion builds on that experience. Our aim is to help finance teams manage more of the cash cycle through connected processes, with agents handling routine work and providing the information people need to make decisions.
Many of the delays finance teams deal with happen between individual processes. A supplier query may require someone to find the right invoice, check its payment status, and follow up with another department. A collections issue may require several conversations before the team can determine why a payment is outstanding and what to do next.
For Workday Financial Management customers, Auditoria’s certified Workday integrations allow our agents to work alongside their existing financial systems. We are also a founding member of Workday’s AI Agent Partner Network, with our agents registered in Workday’s Agent System of Record and our solutions listed in the Workday Marketplace.
Giving finance teams control over what agents can do
As AI agents take on more work across AP and AR, finance teams need to decide what those agents can do, which transactions require approval, and when a person needs to step in. They also need to be able to change those rules as business requirements change.
That is why we have introduced Agent Policies, giving finance teams a simpler way to set and manage the rules governing how their agents operate.
These controls cover practical questions that finance teams already deal with every day:
- What work can an agent complete on its own?
- Which transactions require approval?
- What rules and thresholds must an agent follow?
- When does an issue need to be referred to a person?
- How can the finance team see what an agent has done?
We want the people responsible for financial processes to have more direct control over how automation works within those processes. As business requirements change, finance teams need to be able to update the rules their agents follow.
SmartResearch can now do more than find answers
We have also expanded SmartResearch, which helps finance teams find and work with information held across their financial systems.
Until now, much of its value has been in making financial analysis and getting to the right answers faster and easier. Users can ask a question in natural language and use SmartResearch to find the information they need to investigate an issue or understand a financial position.
With this latest expansion, we are introducing a skill builder that lets users create repeatable processes and reports using natural language. We have also added a document vault, greater customization, and additional tools that give finance teams more control over how SmartResearch works within their environment and what actions it can take across AP and AR.
For finance teams, this means SmartResearch can help with the work that follows an initial question, rather than simply providing the information needed to get started.
Built on experience in live finance operations
These developments come as more finance organizations are putting our agents to work in their daily operations. However, realizing a return on AI investments remains a challenge for many. Our latest research across financial professionals has found that only 21.0% report meaningful, measurable results, while 64.8% report mixed or unsuccessful outcomes.
With our expertise in both AI and Finance, we know how important and critical it is to realize value from AI. That is why our customers work with a dedicated AI Outcomes team to identify which finance processes are suitable for autonomous operations, and can put those processes into production with appropriate controls and measurable results.
Auditoria is approaching $50 billion in annual agentic transaction processing across AP and AR, and more than 20,000 finance professionals across 30 countries are now working with our agents. That experience is helping us understand where finance teams need more automation, which processes benefit from closer coordination, and where people need to retain direct control.
From working with customers, we know every finance operation has its own requirements. Approval rules differ, supplier relationships vary, and how exceptions are handled often reflects years of business experience.
Our approach to governed autonomy is designed to accommodate those differences so organizations can automate more work without having to give up the policies and controls they rely on.
